Frequently Asked Questions
What is Concepts of
History?
Concepts of History is a special education course which
teaches history curriculum directly from the Massachusetts Frameworks. While
the basic content is the same as general education courses, lessons are taught
to ensure individual needs of each student are met in diversified multi-sensory
small group instruction.
What is your background/experience/areas of expertise?
Anything else?
I play four instruments, have traveled to many countries, and advise the Westford Academy Anime Club.
Are students taught both world and U.S. history?
In order to ensure that students meet the history requirements found in the Massachusetts Frameworks, Concepts of History rotates the curriculum on a yearly basis. One year the class may be focusing on World History while the next year the class focus would be on U.S. History I. The following year the class would focus on U.S. History II.
How is instruction delivered to meet students needs?
Within each unit, content is delivered in multiple ways. Students read, discuss, take notes, review visual aids, and complete projects all based on the content.
What type of assessments are given?
I'm a strong believer that students need opportunities to assess their knowledge on both hands on projects as well as traditional assessments. Almost every unit contains a mixture of projects along with tests or quizzes to assess student knowledge.
Are midterms/finals given?
Yes. Students are expected to take a midterm and final exams. In class reviews are held prior to cumulative exams and study tips are given to ensure students have everything they need to prepare.
I have other questions/What's the best way to contact you?
The fastest way to reach me is by e-mail [email protected]
You can also reach my voice-mail by dialing telephone 978-692-5570 x255
E-mail is much more efficient because I check my e-mail several times each day and can respond with ease. While I do have a phone extension, it does not reach me directly and I have no indication whether I have a voice-mail or not, though I do check from time to time.
